Everybody's Hustlin' Not Everyone Be Flexible
Mar 09, 2023
Did you know? Many professional football players here in the United States participate in ballet.
Why?
To execute higher concentration, flexibility, strength, and balance on the field.
Whether you're a football fan or not, the idea here is that they're willing to go outside their comfort zone to risk looking (or feeling) awkward to master these critical areas of high performance.
How are we practicing and performing in the field of life--in our conversations and responses to stressful situations?
Are we fit to stay comfortably situated and strong in the repetition of running down the field to reach our goal?
Or are we willing to go the extra mile...to choose to get comfortably uncomfortable if it means gaining the flexibility to avoid getting tackled by life's most dramatic efforts to take us down?
Most of us in business who want to keep growing and scaling have mastered a focus on goals and vision of getting the ball down the field in our area of expertise with a strong purpose attached.
How many of us intentionally concentrate on developing more graceful interactions to become mentally, emotionally, and socially stronger in the face of unexpected dramatic change while accomplishing those things?
Running a business and (or) raising a family is hard enough on their own. So, why do we make it harder on ourselves to keep pushing in the worn-out style we wear?
Perseverance to succeed isn't about 'toughing it out'. It's about skill in steady leverage of our energy to keep going!
My husband, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and gold medalist put it this way:
"What I teach my students isn't about strength against an attack; it's about technique. In a self-defense position, if you are on the bottom and someone is on top trying to strangle you, it's best to keep your head flat on the mat (or ground as it may be), to go against the natural instinct to lift our heads in sit-up style. I don't know about you, but Jiu-Jitsu is hard enough without making it harder for us to do sit-ups while escaping someone's grip!"
As the song goes, "Everyday I'm hustlin', and though most of us are, if we're entirely exhausted in defense to survive, it may be time to trade in our sweat-vibe for strength in a better position with our timing and pacing of energy.
What are we willing to participate in that may appear silly to others but could help us master a more balanced (instead of stumbling) approach to how high we can run and jump?
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots tight end for the New England Patriots, showed off his ballet lesson to the public on social media. Still, not all football players show off their behind-the-scenes coaching and practice in this area.
That's the good news! Because in life, if we do not necessarily feel ok with looking awkward to learn a new skill in the public space --that feeling doesn't have to stop us from practicing behind the scenes!
That's where my MasterPeace-of-Mind Program comes in. A behind-the-scenes space. To master your peace of mind to show up more gracefully, flexibly, and strongly in the way of stress response, with a professional, guided effort to concentrate through a balanced alignment of principles to get you there.
If you want to leap higher in your relationships, business, and health, the push forward doesn't have to take you down! This is a highly-engaged creative rehearsal space you won't find anywhere else to mentally, emotionally, and physically rehearse how you want to show up on the field of your life and business.
Ready or not, be prepared to accept the metaphor of trading in your runner shoes for some ballet slippers--and join others who committed to themselves the challenge to get uncomfortable, risk looking or feeling awkward so they can live and play on the uncommon field called peace-of-mind.
